Product Description
Scott Pilgrim just turned 24, and things couldn't possibly be better! This means things are about to get infinitely worse. Suddenly, TWO of Ramona's evil ex-boyfriends are in town, and they're playing dirty. His band is in turmoil, and his own exes aren't making things any easier. And what's up with Ramona, anyway? She's been acting kinda weird ever since they moved in together. It's the SECOND LAST VOLUME of SCOTT PILGRIM: Scott's precious little life is coming back around to bite him in the butt, and it may not be pretty!

4 out of 5 stars Good book, shipped fast   August 1, 2010

Used the free 2 day shipping for college students, and it worked great. Couldnt wait for the final book of the Scott Pilgrim series, and I wasnt disappointed. My only complaint is that it seemed a bit rushed towards the end of the book... but then again, how could a comic not rush fight scenes? ...I'm eagerly awaiting the movie.

Here we have what is said to be the second to last volume in the Scott Pilgrim series of graphic novels. Scott still has to defeat three more of Ramona's evil exes, and he faces off with two of them here (they are twins). Scott is marginally more mature now, but that doesn't make his actions any less funny. Looking forward to the conclusion!

3 out of 5 stars Reread Review   July 16, 2010

I started to read the series some years ago, with book three's release, and have been following ever since. With the final book being released, I'm rereading and reviewing the earlier volumes.

This volume does not work at all on it's own. As part of the over all story it is fine, but is NOT a jumping in point. There is less humor then before, but when it's there it's good. The action is fun to read. This volume is much darker, and serious then the others. To build up to an epic final in the last book it kind of had to... a darkest before the dawn kind of thing.

This book, and the series as a whole, is perfect for the 17 to 25 year old range, that are growing up in the same culture and going through the same experiences as Scott and his friends. Anyone their 30's can get a kick out of the series as well, being able to look back and laugh about that time in their lives.

3 out of 5 stars Lacks the Humor of the Other Volumes   July 11, 2010

Scott Pilgrim vs The Universe is very mediocre. I probably laughed once, whereas the other books had me laughing on nearly every page. The book then tries to substitute drama in the absence of comedy, and things still feel a bit dry. Yes there's a cliffhanger, and I'm dying to see what happens, but there is no excuse for making this book sad all over.

All I'm saying, is that us fans better get a damn good ending. We've experienced Pilgrim's heartache and we want some resolution. Volume 5 is sadly the least entertaining out of the series. O'Malley doesn't extend his funny bone, and instead he pokes and prods Scott Pilgrim till we can't take it anymore. He can recover from this disappointment, but he better go all out in Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour.
