The art is phenomenal! I don't know all the superheroes involved, but the read was extremely easy. I couldn't put this book down!

5 out of 5 stars Sublime Event   August 8, 2010

I waited patiently for this event to be collected in book form. I bought the whole set of collected editions and read them all at once. I must say I've every impressed. I've been reading comic books for most of 40 years and this is maybe the best Universe changing crossover event yet. Johns and his partners do a great job. Art is top notch. And it's got a great ending. Couldn't be more please. Highly recommended.

very good collection to truly be apreciated the blackest night books should be read in the order they were released as comics, otherwise it can be a little confusing.

3 out of 5 stars Graphic Story / Graphic Mistake   August 5, 2010

Reading the story of the Blackest Night in single form was exciting and pleasing. By the end it felt like 5 years, but waiting on the Graphic Novels of the series was a wanting effort. My disappointment was to read the story out of sequence. All the stories are linked to other titles so reading them in one title per Graphic Novel is confusing. Blackest Night ties into Green Lantern: Blackest Night which ties into short individual Blackest Night titles, like Superman: Blackest Night, Wonder Woman: Blackest Night, Batman: Blackest Night and so on and so on.

The creators of the Graphic Novels should have placed the stories in chronological order and dubbed them Blackest Night series 1, 2 and 3.

It is a must read for fans out there, but I would stick to the single titles as they came available to not get confused.

1 out of 5 stars Johns weakest work to date...   August 2, 2010

The magic that started with Green Lantern Rebirth and continued to Green Lantern has disappeared. In an attempt to get rid of characters that absolutely no one cares about and bring back his own personal favorites, Geoff Johns has turned a story about life and death into a rainbow filled slapfight with zombies as the villains. If you ignore the fact that All life in the universe is supposed to have derived from Earth, you may be able to swallow the fact the the main character in the book doesn't really appear to do anything of value in the first 2 acts of the story....That's if you really care about character development.
