One of the all time best August 27, 2010 C. Caniano (New York) Adam Hughes is one of the greatest draftsman to ever grace the comic industry. If one ever needs to justify comics as an art-form than just buy this book. Such command over line, form, color and his skill with Photoshop amazes me. He makes it look so damn easy.
Cover Run: The DC Comics Art of Adam Hughes (Adam Hughes Cover to Cover) August 23, 2010 Chris Pribilski An excellent collection of AH!'s work! The "commentaries" on each piece were wonderful! A fine addition to any fan's collection!
The Catwoman on the cover looks familiar to you? August 13, 2010 D. P. Bostaph (Murfreesboro, TN United States) You bet she should look familiar!
That's Audrey Hepburn!
DC Comics' femme fatale, as played by the lady from "Breakfast At Tiffany's"?
Well, at least her interest in jewelry is correct.... :)
EXCELLENT BUY! August 5, 2010 Phymns 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've met Adam Hughes a few times and I am super glad that this book contains his unique humor in commentary on every piece. There's definitely a lot of his personality in this book in the writing and little jokes he makes throughout. Its almost worth it for that alone.
Each piece is well displayed, shows preliminary sketches and alternate sketches. It really gets you into his head as far as the process of making his art goes. If you are interested in sketch books and art books alike, this is a MUST BUY. Well worth the price even if it were twice this amount. Do yourself a favor and pick this book up immediately!
A great selection August 2, 2010 tk. (Portland, OR, USA) There's a great selection here spanning Adam Hughes' history of ever-more fantastic covers for DC, including some alternate takes on familiar covers, some interesting technical tidbits about how effects were achieved, as well as sketches for DC's busts and statues based on his art. Complete with wry commentary from the man himself, I'm proud to shelve this next to my Mucha and Elvgren art books.
